India India Bamboo stick blinds, not too different from the blinds you see everywhere in India, don't only have to cover windows but can soften any unsightly wall or fence.

Japan Japan When I travel, I look for kitchen and hardware supply stores. Here, I added to an ever-growing utensil rack Japanese hazard tape, write baskets, and kitchen brushes. Don’t hide your handmade, crafted finds away in the closet, show them off.

Mexico 2 Mexico 2 If you are constantly attracted to the same colors, or are just recently inspired by a trip, color code your accessories. Group cookbooks in similar hues with coordinating bits and bobs. Display your cool kitchen and serving ware on your counter top proudly!
Mexico 3 Mexico 3 Make it festive by simply tacking up Day of the Dead paper flags; use a giant yard game as sculpture (or to use) and pull your lime green cowhide outside.
Italy Italy Load a tree branch (this one’s a plane) with glittery anchors, mercury glass, and feathered baubles—all things I saw on my trip. I love all things shiny and summery! Throw in an alfresco lunch—so Italian.

My first contact with Sibella Court was in the early 2000′s, during my tenure in the Travel + Leisure photo department. She went on several assignments with one of our regular photographers at the time. Her role was that of stylist, though she ended up on the cover and on several full-pages in the magazine, from such destinations as Spain, Ireland, and the Grenadines. Hotel rooms and food shots, with her touch, stood out above all others in the issue.

For some reason, which I can’t explain, Australia produces some of the world’s best interior designers and stylists, and Sibella leads the pack. Editorially, she’s worked for the biggest interiors and lifestyle magazines on several continents; has collaborated with brands like Anthropologie, Jo Malone, and Bergdorff Goodman; appeared on Australia’s TV show homeMADE; and has published books, including The Stylist’s Guide to NYC, Etcetera, and her latest due out in December–Nomad: Bringing Your Travels Home. It goes without saying why we felt it was a perfect fit for Trunk’s Fall/Winter ’11 line-up.

The portraits of Sibella and details of her Sydney-based shop The Society, which ran in this issue of Trunk, were taken by photographer Rene Vaile. The above images, taken by Sibella’s own brother Chris Court (a gifted family), are from hwe book Nomad. Sibella explains, in her own words, how she incorporates elements and styles from her travels into home design.
